Questions about glass commissions.
Who is Caroline Abbey?
Caroline Abbey is a glass artist in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, who makes glass centerpieces for homes and businesses: chandeliers, sculpture and commissioned pieces that join hand-blown glass with metal she fabricates herself. She attended Laurel School and earned a BFA in glass from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 2026, where her sculpture Dancing Pants received a Board Honorable Mention with Distinction at Student Independent Exhibition 80. She also studied at The Studio of the Corning Museum of Glass. See About Caroline.
How is a commission priced, and how long does it take?
Lead time depends on the design, and price depends on the project. Caroline works both out with the client or designer, starting from what the space needs, and puts them in a statement of work before anything is made. Sending an inquiry does not commit you to a purchase.
Where is Caroline Abbey Glassworks located?
The studio is in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, near Cleveland in Northeast Ohio. Caroline takes commissions from anywhere in the United States.
Does Caroline make custom glass chandeliers and lighting?
Yes. She designs and hand-blows glass for custom chandeliers and pendant clusters, plus sconces and sculptural light pieces. Caroline fabricates the metal structures in her own metal shop, and wiring and electrical listing are handled by licensed specialists. See custom glass chandeliers and lighting.
Does she work with interior designers, architects and businesses?
Yes. Designers, architects, restaurants, hotels and offices can commission lighting and display pieces. Send drawings, site photos and your schedule. See architects and designers.
Can I buy a piece online?
Available pieces appear in the seasonal shop with a price and purchase button. Collection previews invite you to ask about availability; they are not checkout listings.
Can I commission a different color or design?
Yes—start with a piece you like or share a new idea. Caroline will go over the design with you, including its size and finish. You’ll also discuss timing and the final price. Sending an inquiry does not commit you to a purchase.
Where is shipping included?
The shop is planned for shipping-included prices to the United States and Canada. Each listing and the checkout explain applicable taxes and delivery details. Other destinations can be discussed with Caroline.
Will I receive the exact piece shown?
Each sale listing states whether you will receive the exact photographed piece or an item from a small series. Portfolio photographs show examples of the work and do not imply availability.
How long does a commission take?
Timing depends on the size of the piece, how many glass elements it has, and any design and electrical approvals. Include your target date in your inquiry so Caroline can say what is realistic before anything is committed.
Where can I see the work being made?
The Studio Films library includes glassworking, pumpkin-making, and cane-pulling footage.
What about returns or damage in transit?
The shop’s published policies will explain the terms before checkout opens. Contact Caroline with questions about a particular piece.
